Schedule of performances
Three patients meet in a psychiatric clinic run by doctor von Zahnd. Patients suffer from hallucinations. One claims to be Einstein, the other to be Newton. Solomon keeps appearing to the third one. It gradually transpires that it is all a coverup. The patients are secret agents on a mission in the sanatorium. The lauded physicist Möbius has found asylum there. He is author of a fundamental thesis. It turns out that intelligence services as well as the director of the sanatorium are interested in the thesis, as it might facilitate inventions that might destroy the world. The best choice for a scientist to prevent abuse of knowledge is to seek asylum in a psychiatric clinic. Yet is it indeed a safe place when we do not know who is the insane and who is the director?
The Physicists by the Swiss playwright Friedrich Dürrenmatt raise fundamental philosophical issues about the responsibility of élites for the course of history. At the time of crisis, the world turns into a looney asylum and madmen gain power. The production is staged by the major star of Polish theatre, Jan Klata.
