A village in the mountains is home to a regular Slovak family. The father occasionally works as a gravedigger, the mother is a former teacher of Russian, the daughter is visited by a suitor who is forming a home guard against foreign enemies in the surrounding woods. One day, this stereotypical idyll is disturbed by mysterious sightings. The daughter begins seeing Biblical figures in the woods. Are these just psychotic illusions produced by her unsettled mind, or is the daughter really having visions of the Holy Family? At first, everyone is inclined to think the former – until the Holy Family begins appearing to other townspeople too. But no miracle lasts more than three days. Reverence is soon replaced by new doubts. Is this really the Holy Family? Are they not, rather, aliens who have come to take our daily bread, our home, our certainties? The village is on the brink of a mass hunt. A new play by Viliam Klimáček, this is not just a comedy about our own fears and prejudices, but also a mediation on the question whether we are not renouncing faith in the name of faith. This play is the culmination of a project of the SND Drama, in which Slovak scripts are staged by foreign directors. French director Vladimír Serre will be collaborating with the SND Drama for the first time in his career.
