Adaptation of the works The Jurga Brothers written by Ivan Horváth (1904 – 1960) follows up the line of Slovak literal works performed on the stage of the SND Drama Ensemble. Ivan Horváth is a Slovak modern literature author from the first half of the 20th century, influenced by modern European literary streams. A suggestive narration with elements of Surrealism and Expressionism, but mostly Impressionism, brings a story about four sons, the Jurga brothers: Ján – the recluse, Tomáš – the painter, Arne – the farmer and Peter – the notary. The search after the meaning of life and its fulfilment, accompanied by solitude, isolation or helplessness, and the happiness reached with lot of difficulties as well. Four brothers, four elements, four stories, four different attitudes toward life and thinking create a mosaic of life in its entirety.
