The forms of modern opera are very different and individual, and to each new composer it is a challenge to show musical originality, complexity of composition, theatre instinct and also the ability to find one’s own approach to the genre. Ľubica Čekovská, a young Slovak composer is a debutante on the opera stage. Besides her strong and original music expression, she brings also the ability to perceive music in its intensive conjunction with other forms of arts and philosophical concepts. In her Dorian Gray Čekovská deals with worrying questions on physical and spiritual forms of good and evil.
The work was commissioned by SND Opera and it will be premiered within the international festival of contemporary music World New Music Days 2013.
