Jean Baptiste Poquelin Molière
The Miser is an excellent comedy about the consequences of the obsession with money. The great master of comic characters creates a colourful picture about endless list of ways how to cheat in the very intimate atmosphere of a family. If money is involved, there are no rules about respect of children towards their parents and vice versa. So who in this case is the real miser? Moliére does not give us a definite answer. The mean leech Harpagon has been trembling for the safety of his box full of money all the time. He does not favour anything himself, but also his children Élise and Cléante. In the end, the children have to organise everything and pay a lesson to their father deformed by his greedy.
