The Taming Of The Shrew

William Shakespeare
The Taming Of The Shrew
Farce-like story about a rough tamer and his tamed victim takes place not only in front of the theatre visitors, but at the same time it is played within the ‘play in a play’ by the comedians for a primitive boiler-man who got fully drunken and a nobleman brought him to his castle. He let him be washed and dressed to noble clothes, and when he got sober, they told him he was the nobleman for whom the strollers would play a comic piece. And so they play and sing a comedy for him, as he likes it… It is funny and interesting to follow the temperamental fight of men and women… and maybe it is also instructive.
