Adolphe Charles Adam
Adam don’s ballet Giselle is part of historical legacy of culminating Romanticism. At the same time, it is one of the most frequently staged oeuvres in ballet companies worldwide. From its first première in Paris in 1841, the ballet continues to attract audiences across the globe. That is largely due to the moving romantic story by the librettists Théophile Gautier and Jules-Henri Vernoy de Saint-Georges, along with the melodic and rhythmic lightness of the music by the major representative of Romantic period, Adolphe Charles Adam. The ballet that is among the most poised and oldest oeuvres in classical ballet opus, is brought to you in its academic purity and brilliance, as choreographed and directed by Rafael Avnikyan.
