The Great Doctor’s Tale

Opera for children in four acts performed in Slovak

The historical SND building
6. 12. 2012

Curious developments occure in the dreaming mind of the mysterious doctor. He is reviving the Waterman, Fairy Amálka, Wizzard Magiáš, Dwarf, Heehaw, and other fairy-tale creatures. In his opera, Slovak composer Milan Dubovský looked at the “grey reality” of grown-up life through children’s eyes. What he saw, he narrated through the language of unlimited opportunities of child imagination which the grownups have long forgotten.
