Sergej Sergejevič ProkofievMichael Corder
The centenary season lends an opportunity to present, within the main dramaturgical line, a ballet that is the supreme legacy of the 20th century – Cinderella by Sergei Prokofiev. The magical fairy-tale story of Cinderella by the French author Charles Perrault inspired Prokofiev. The giant of music composed an oeuvre rich in sound and melody, which is filled with emotions, tenderness as well as melancholy; though, most importantly, with splendid ballet scenes that appeal to dancers worldwide. Michael Corder, the acclaimed European choreographer who collaborated with ensembles across the globe, including the Royal Ballet, Sadler’s Wells Royal Ballet in London, presents a contemporary choreographical perspective and an original directorial concept enhanced by the set and costumes design by Mark Bailey. The ballet masterpiece is yet another welcome challenge for the members of SND Ballet.
