The original ballet production to the music by Carl Davis, the acclaimed British composer, author of famous musicals and ballets, offers a unique look at the life and work of the lauded Russian dancer and choreographer Vaslav Nijinsky. One of the key members of Sergei Diaghilev’s Ballets Russes, the legendary ballet company, revived the art of male dancing, combining his brilliant jumping and pirouette technique with expressiveness and pantomime. The production quotes his most famous characters, which included Petrushka in Igor Stravinsky’s eponymous ballet, Debussy’s Afternoon of a Faun, as well as his ground-breaking ballet The Rite of Spring to the music of Stravinsky. We presented the title at the world premiere.
