Le Corsaire by Adolphe Charles Adam is one of the masterpieces of the Romantic ballet era, part of the golden fund of the world's ballet repertoire. Since its première at the Paris Opera in 1856, the work has survived to this day and owes its success largely to the legendary Marius Petipa, who first performed it at the Mariinsky Theatre in 1899. This production choreographed by the imperative Russian choreographer Vasily Medvedev is based on Petipa don’t concept. The story of the adventurous life of corsairs is no short of unfettered passion, dramatic situations, peril and love.
