The Ballet of the National Theatre Košice brings The Little Prince to the stage of the Slovak National Theatre. Based on Antoine de Saint-Exupéry’s timeless book, the production tells a story of love, understanding and hope that speaks to children and adults alike.

 

“Even today, Exupéry’s The Little Prince still surprises us with its purity and its kindly understanding of the world we live in. It is a kind of modern-day bible which, seen through a child’s eyes, uncovers our failings and at the same time offers a way of coming to terms with them. It can look upon a shallow world, full of incivility, the destruction of traditions and senseless wars, with love, understanding and hope,” say the creators of the production.

 

The scenario, based on Exupéry’s book, was written by Ondrej Šoth and Zuzana Mistríková. Ondrej Šoth is responsible for the direction and choreography, and the music is by Michal Pavlíček. The film component, which draws on the principles of Laterna Magika, was created by David Spáčil.
