Arrigo Boito's monumental operatic fresco Mefistofele, inspired by Goethe's Faust, stages a dramatic contest of good and evil, desire, knowledge and temptation, presided over by the charismatic figure of Mefistofele. Boito's score blends monumental choral scenes with lyrical intimacy and gripping drama to create a unique theatrical experience. The new production will be directed by Pavol Smolík, with the musical preparation by the conductor Jaroslav Kyzlink. Audiences can look forward to a compelling operatic evening filled with striking imagery, philosophical questions and music that moves between heavenly grandeur and dark irony.
The production is suitable for audiences aged 12 and over.
Running time is indicative, as the dress rehearsal is still due for the production.
