The SND Opera’s Easter concert will feature one of the masterpieces of Italian sacred music, Gioachino Rossini’s Stabat Mater. The medieval text on the sorrow of the Virgin Mary at the foot of the Cross was recast by the master of Italian opera into music in which profound spirituality meets melodic beauty and gripping dramatic force. Monumental choral passages alternate with intimate solo confessions, forming a powerful arc from grief and compassion to hope and redemption. Rossini's Stabat Mater will be performed by the soloists, chorus and orchestra of the SND Opera conducted by Jaroslav Kyzlink.
