This year, the Slovak National Theatre Opera continues its tradition of staging gala concerts in honour of important Slovak soloists. At the beginning of the 106th theatre season, we are going to pay tribute to the extraordinary opera diva Gabriela Beňačková. Slovak and world opera stars Eva Hornyáková, Mária Porubčinová, Nina Stemme, Corinne Winters and Pavol Breslik, conducted by Tomáš Brauner, have accepted the invitation to perform.
Gabriela Beňačková is a legendary soprano in the opera world. A native of Bratislava, she devoted herself to opera, concerts and songs. She has studied more than forty operatic characters and performed over two thousand concerts and performances all over the world. She has been a regular guest on the world's greatest opera and concert stages (Vienna, Paris, Berlin, Milan, London, New York, San Francisco...). She significantly contributed to the promotion of Czech opera by Janáček, Dvořák, and Smetana worldwide. She has collaborated with world-class conductors (Leonard Bernstein, James Levine, Georg Solti, Claudio Abbado, Zubin Mehta...) and her frequent partners on stage have included Plácido Domingo, Luciano Pavarotti and Peter Dvorský.
