Romeo and Juliet – the world's most famous love story, given an unhappy ending by its author, comes to life as a captivating ballet epic. The young and naive love of the lovers is challenged by fate, prejudice, and the hatred of feuding families, whose senseless struggle takes place in Renaissance Verona. William Shakespeare's immortal and emotionally charged verses take the form of movement phrases, with literary language replaced by the vocabulary of dance, which is delicately woven into a coherent and meaningful choreography. The powerful emotional dimension of the work is amplified by one of the most beautiful ballet scores of the 20th century – Sergei Prokofiev's lavish musical composition. The overall atmosphere of this spectacular production, choreographed by Nina Poláková and Jakob Feyferlik, is complemented by gilded arcades and opulent period costumes designed by Jordi Roig.
The production is suitable for audiences aged 15 and over.
Running time is indicative, as the dress rehearsal is still due for the production.
