The production of Sigma Werther, in the distinctive directorial poetics of the creative duo ODIVO, who have won awards for their work for young people at home and abroad, offers a contemporary take on a well-known story about sensitivity, the desire for closeness and inner loneliness. The initial inspiration is found in Goethe's novel The Sorrows of Young Werther. The main character, Werther, a sensitive young man, is the language of Generation Z. He's a sigma, leaving the noisy urban environment for nature, where he tries to capture its sonic beauty and understand his own experience through it. However, this loneliness can turn into something serious, to even something extreme. Lotta, portrayed by three actresses, is also part of the story. The inner world and the changing emotions of the characters raise issues that are close to teenagers' hearts: the need for understanding, vulnerability or unfulfilled affection. Solitude as a phenomenon of adolescence is being examined here from different angles - not only through relationships, but also through alienation from the world around us. The sounds of the forest become a means of expression in the production, revealing not only the beauty of nature but also its endangerment. The ecological dimension is intertwined with the personal: the sense of loss, the lack of silence, the disturbed equilibrium. Sigma Werther creates a space for silence and reflection - not through moralising, but through sensory images, soundscapes and the authentic voice of teenagers. It reminds young audiences that even ambiguous and conflicting emotions are okay. It's not just the story of one love but also about what lies behind the silences, the looks, and the desire to belong somewhere. At a time when the world is overloaded with stimuli, Sigma Werther brings a moment of silence and perhaps a new way to listen to yourself and others.
Running time is indicative, as the dress rehearsal is still due for the production.
