The Flittermouse

Johann Strauss

The Flittermouse

Opera

Operette in three acts in German language.

The new SND building, Opera and Ballet hall

Johann Strauss Jr.'s witty and lively operetta contains pretences, humorous misunderstandings and romantic twists. The story unfolds in an elegant Viennese setting, where the characters struggle with their loves, identities and pretence. The main character is Gabriel von Eisenstein, who decided not to go to prison but instead appeared in a bat costume at a masquerade ball. A cheerful story full of unexpected plots, humour and especially the sparkling music of Johann Strauss Jr. in the rhythm of waltzes and czardas, which sparkles like champagne, is presented in the popular production by director Miroslav Grisa.
