Milan Čorba

Milan Čorba (1940–2013) was a distinguished Slovak costume designer, set designer, and educator who became a key figure in the fields of theatre, film, and television costume design. After completing his studies in art education and art history, he focused on costume design for Slovak and Czech theatres, films, and television productions. Milan Čorba designed costumes for more than 195 theatre performances and over 400 television productions, collaborating with renowned directors and theatre professionals such as Miloš Pietor, Vladimír Strnisko, Ľubomír Vajdička, and Martin Huba. In creating the costumes, he respected the playwright, the original drama, the director's vision, and above all, the individuality of the actors.

His work has been recognised with numerous prestigious awards, including the Crystal Wing Award for lifetime achievement in 2010 and the Lifetime Achievement Award from the Literary Fund in 2013. The 85th anniversary of Milan Čorba's birth will be commemorated by the Theatre Institute in cooperation with the Slovak National Theatre with an exhibition showcasing his most significant works.

The exhibition will be officially launched by Emília Vášáryová, a member of the Slovak National Theatre Drama Company, and costume designer Ján Kocman.
