Soprano Adriana Kučerová belongs to the internationally successful generation of Slovak opera vocalists. She studied at the Academy of Performing Arts in Bratislava and the National Conservatory in Lyon. She has several competition awards to her credit: 1st place at the Competition of Slovak Conservatories in Žilina in 2000, 3rd place at the European Music Prize for Youth in 2001, 2nd place at the International Summer Academy Prague-Vienna-Budapest in 2002 and especially 1st place together with three other prizes at the prestigious Hans Gabor Belvedere Competition in Vienna in 2005. On the boards of the Slovak National Theatre Opera, she appeared in Handel's Alcina as the brilliant Morgana, in Peter Britten's Grimes as the Second Niece and also in Antonín Dvořák's production of Rusalka as the First Wood Nymph and Violetta in La Traviata. The young soprano received her first international offers from Salzburg, where she performed at the Salzburg Mozart Wochen as part of the Mozart Year 2006 as well as at the Salzburg Festival in Mozart's opera La finta giardiniera. This was followed by an invitation to La Scala in Milan, where she debuted in Purcell's opera Dido and Aeneas. Adriana Kučerová's other successes include her debut at the Theater an der Wien as Ninetta in the production of La finta semplice, with music by Fabio Luisi, and her appearance at the Glyndebourne Touring Opera, where she performed the role of Adina in The Elixir of Love.
