Ján Ptačin

Ján Ptačin studied architecture at the Academy of Fine Arts in Bratislava and the Brno University of Technology and scenography at the Academy of Performing Arts in Bratislava, completing his doctoral studies in lighting design. During his studies, he completed several internships abroad, including a work placement at the Institute of Lighting Design in Amsterdam. He is currently part of JaOnMi CreatureS, a creative studio focusing on creating space in architecture, scenography and lighting design. He is actively engaged in teaching at the Theatre Faculty of the Academy of Performing Arts, where he was habilitated as an associate professor in 2019.
 
He has designed set designs for several opera, drama, music and movement productions, performances and events. He is also involved in designing and planning architectural objects, pavilions and interiors. Successful projects include, for example, set and lighting design for the production of Robin Hood at A. Bagar Theatre in Nitra, Father at the National Theatre Košice, lighting design of Europeana at the Slovak Chamber Theatre Martin, Sin/ Her Stepdaughter and Till the Stones Come... at the Slovak National Theatre, the set design of the trilogy WOW!, The Abduction of Europe and Job by the Debris Company, or the lighting design of the Dachstein Eishöhle cave in Austria and the Natural Bridge Caverns in the USA.
