Anna Maľová was born in Očová. After graduating in acting from the Academy of Performing Arts in 1977, she accepted an engagement at the Andrej Bagar Theatre in Nitra. The highlights of her work in the Nitra company were the title role of Juliet in Shakespeare's tragedy Romeo and Juliet (1979) and Adela in Lorca's drama The House of Bernarda Alba (1979). Since 1981, she has been a member of the SND Drama Theatre. Her best performances were those where she could integrate inner dynamism, sparsity of expression and suggestion of words into the character. She can also create suggestive comedic characters where her acting priority is the shortcut or hyperbole.
