Juraj Letenay

The Bratislava native graduated in dance pedagogy from the Department of Dance Production at the Academy of Performing Arts in Bratislava in 1981. From 1982 to 1988, he was a member of the New Stage ballet in Bratislava, where he also worked as a ballet teacher from 1983 to 1985. Since 1985, he has been working at the Department of Acting of the Theatre Faculty of the Academy of Performing Arts as a stage movement and dance teacher. From 2003 to 2010, he was the Dean of the Theatre Faculty of the Academy of Performing Arts; from 2011, he was its Vice-Dean, and from 2014 - 2022, he was its Dean again.
 
In the early 1990s, he began collaborating with theatre directors such as Vladimír Strnisko, Pavol Haspra, Peter Mikulík, Ľubomír Vajdička, Emil Horváth, and Martin Huba, and nowadays, mainly with Roman Polák and Matúš Bachynec. He has collaborated on more than 90 productions in Slovak and Czech theatres.
 
In the current repertoire of the Drama Theatre of the Slovak National Theatre, he collaborated on the productions The Conformist and Scenes from the Life of the Director (Ingmar Bergman), directed by Roman Polák, and on the production of Sin/ Her Stepdaughter, directed by Matúš Bachynec.
 
At the SND Opera, he created movement collaborations for Juraj Beneš's The Players (2004) and Mozart's The Marriage of Figaro (2007), both directed by Martin Huba and in 2017 in the production Triptych directed by Roman Polák.
