The Season ticket for the News in Drama Theatre (abbreviation of the series: DN) [Drama News]
In heated times, one often withdraws from the world and seeks escape or perspective. There is a time and space to shift from the social and public to the intimate, familial or close. However, withdrawal or isolation does not necessarily imply a negative state. For some, it might be the time of a new beginning, re-evaluating things, self-searching, setting new paths and often even brave determination to step on a new, unused path, but also an escape from the mundane. In the Drama Theatre of the Slovak National Theatre, we have prepared six titles for our audiences, leading us into the special stories and worlds of families or groups from the regions, periphery, and seniors, youth, artists and scientists. We can find desires for healing relationships, the courage of a journey of discovery, the sensitivity of loneliness, and the longing for stability. Later, we will travel through the Irish countryside and family relations that recall the ancient motif of Medea, in Marina Carr's contemporary play BY THE BOG OF CATS, directed by Matúš Bachynec. We will also consider teenagers, for whom the production SIGMA WERTHER is intended, recognising their desire for dialogue in times of loneliness, the world they are escaping or re-creating, or what their first loves and relationships are like. Directed by the Slovak leader in children's and youth production ODIVO. The themes of escapes and searches, courage to speak the truth, accepting responsibility for one's life, strength not to give up, and overcoming loneliness will also appear in the productions presented at the Drama Hall. We will present the Slovak première of the current award-winning play WATSONS by Laura Wade, which is an adaptation of Jane Austen's unfinished novel directed by Marian Amsler. In Bertolt Brecht's play THE LIFE OF GALILEO, directed by Martin Čičvák, we tackle the fundamental confrontations between science and facts, but especially the courage to go against the tide. A contemporary theatre hit by the renowned Czech playwright and screenwriter Petr Zelenka, AMATEURS presents original humour and the revelation of family secrets during a family celebration. The title will be presented in the Slovak première directed by Eduard Kudláč.
We believe that if we can understand ourselves better and go deeper into comprehending our closest relationships, we will understand the changing world better.

The season ticket for the OPERA and BALLET PREMIÈRES (abbreviation of the series: OB)
A new production of Camille Saint-Saëns' grand-opera SAMSON AND DELILAH will open the series of premières in the new 2025/2026 season at the Slovak National Theatre Opera. This magnificent work returns to the stage of the first scene after almost 100 years in a spectacular concept by young director Zuzana Fischer and with musical direction by renowned conductor Marco Guidarini. The second première will be the legendary opera classic EUGEN ONEGIN by Pyotr Ilyich Tchaikovsky, which is almost at home on the stage of the Slovak National Theatre Opera. This compelling story of lost love, pride, and loyalty will be presented in a direction by Pavel Smolík and musical staging by the chief conductor Tomáš Brauner. The third opera première will be dedicated to Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart and his opera THE MARRIAGE OF FIGARO (Le nozze di Figaro). This iconic musical comedy, directed by the renowned Jiří Heřman, uses powerful visual imagery to mock gracefully the frivolous intrigues while reflecting on existential questions. Presented in co-production with the National Theatre Brno and Théâtre de Caen.
In the 2025/2026 season, the SND Ballet will expand its already abundant repertoire with two new premières. The autumn première will feature the most famous love story of all time. Shakespeare's drama ROMEO AND JULIET comes to life to the music of one of the most beautiful ballet opuses of the 20th century – Sergei Prokofiev's musical score. The authors of the new choreographic concept are Nina Poláková and Jakob Feyferlik. The passion of the lovers from Verona, set against the backdrop of a drama about rival families, is enhanced by Jordi Roig's magnificent period set design. The spring première at the Slovak National Theatre Ballet will belong to children and all those who have not forgotten how to be children. Based on the well-known fairy tale by James Matthew Barrie, the children's ballet PETER PAN will be performed with the original musical score by Marián Lejava and authentic choreography by Roman Novitzký. The endless imagination that characterised the story is emphasised by the boundless stage design by the designer Lucie Šedivá.

The Season ticket for ADVANCED SPECTATORS (shortcut of the series AS)
Being a sophisticated viewer allows you to enjoy more space and time. On profound themes, necessary pauses and the aesthetic diversity of theatre. For all music lovers, there will be a unique concert performance of one of the most famous works of the 20th century, Erich Wolfgang Korngold's opera THE DEAD CITY (Die tote Stadt). This operatic psychological thriller about the boundaries between dreams and reality will be presented in its Slovak première with a first-class vocal cast conducted by the chief conductor Tomáš Brauner. As part of our drama productions, we will present several powerful reflections on critical contemporary issues. The play based on Gorky's VASSA, directed by Ingrid Timková, is about a wife, mother, and entrepreneur who is trying with all her might to keep not only her company but also her family together. At the same time, it is a critical reflection on the state of present-day political thinking. Lorca's iconic drama BLOOD WEDDING, directed by Ján Luterán, is a passionate, musical and electrifying work about parents who did not allow their children to live freely. And that can have fatal consequences. Falling in love and living life can also bring bitter tears. A surreal and magical production in which passion is the driving force. The European award-winning Romanian director and author Gianina Cărbunariu created an original play, MY BELOVED ENEMY, for the SND. We often find ourselves in disagreement and conflict on several issues. Is it possible to step beyond the horizon of our arguments and tensions and reflect on what is truly essential and important? What matters to us? The production offers not only a reflection of reality but also an empathetic understanding of others. As a Western civilisation, we profess Christianity. It is the stability of our values, the perspective through which we understand our relationships, but also the many questions and doubts that constantly arise. The adaptation of Denis Arcand's film JESUS OF MONTREAL, directed by Ján Luterán, offers an extraordinary theatre experience in the form of total theatre. Spiritual reflection on the search for the meaning of life, the desire for fulfilling relationships, understanding the depth of faith, and the prospects of finding hope bring true catharsis.

Suitable for all brave children who are not afraid to sit in the auditorium for two hours! The magical story of THE NUTCRACKER ballet, full of characters from the world of dreams and fantasy, belongs to Christmas as much as cakes, Cinderella and carols. Lucia Šedivá's stage design transports audiences of all ages into a world where anything is possible. THE GINGERBREAD HOUSE (Hansel and Gretel) by the composer E. Humperdinck, in a new Slovak translation by Ján Štrasser, brings the well-known story of Hansel, Gretel, and the evil witch to the opera stage. The world-famous children's opera takes the form of a spectacular family performance at the SND, which will captivate and entertain not only children but also their parents. Mouflon Ancijáš probably needs no introduction. The kind-hearted truck driver in torn sweatpants from Braňo Jobus's popular books will once again visit the Slovak National Theatre Opera. Accompanied by Slava Solovic's playful music, even the most restless children will enjoy a cheerful hour in the audience. One of the oldest ballets in the world takes you to the sun-drenched countryside.
