The historic building of the Slovak National Theatre has long attracted both domestic and foreign visitors not only with its theatrical history but also with its architectural value. The iconic building was constructed in an eclectic style at the end of the 19th century according to the designs of the prominent Viennese architects Ferdinand Fellner and Hermann Helmer.
We invite you to attend our regular weekend tours of the SND historic building on Hviezdoslavovo Square in Bratislava, which will allow you to peek into its innermost parts. We believe that this will satisfy many visitors who have been interested in this possibility on many occasions.
You will learn the key facts about the history of the theatre, as well as about its role in contemporary Pressburg and in present-day Bratislava. You will learn about the transformations that the theatre building has undergone in over a hundred years of its existence, as well as about the major dramatic milestones and personalities that have been performed here.
The tour will begin in the foyer of the theatre and will lead through the visitor areas, including the President's Lounge, lodges, mezzanine, 1st balcony and the theatre cafeteria. However, it will continue with a magical behind-the-scenes tour of the theatre, which will reveal a peek into the real theatre kitchen. You will visit the dressing rooms, the orchestra pit, see the turntable, the prompt-box area, the warehouse of the scenery, the orchestra rehearsal room, the large ballet hall, the wardrobe storage and the ironing room.
You will discover the insides of the historic building of the Slovak National Theatre with Ludwig Bagin.
