The extraordinary British playwright has been the shining star for decades in terms of staging and popularity of her plays. They are thought-provoking, unconventional and publicly engaged, and, particularly, intellectually inventive and playful. Her small-scale drama Escaped Alone was staged in Prague by the Divadlo letí. It inspired us at the SND to present this treat from 2018 to our audiences, particularly those spectators who enjoyed such productions as The Chairs, Embers and Illusions. During their regular afternoon tea, four ladies talk about the universe, about themselves, the world. They chat about everything and nothing. Their conversation is authentic because of the content where trivial comments intertwine with apocalyptic visions. It is a suspense, for we sense that it gradually reveals a story of a murder that has been kept secret. It is intelligent, for it is weaved from fragments of stories they experienced. It is humorous, for it is brutally honest. Like a poem, it inspires parallels: with its captivating rhythm of seemingly absurd words, it invites participation of those members of the audience who are into puzzles. The cast that includes our enthralling actresses Božidara Turzonovová, Anna Javorková, Kamila Magálová and Magda Vášáryová, is indeed a fine invitation to an event that is bound to be your very cup of tea.

The production is suitable for audiences aged 15 and over.
