Jordi Roig

Born in Lleida, Spain. From an early age, he started to work in the field of plastic arts under the strong influence of his father, an artist well known for his paintings of the ballet world. He studied scenic arts, puppetry and dance at the Institut del Teatre de Barcelona. In early 1987 he ended his dance career in order to devote his time to costume and set design. Notably, in that year, he was invited by the association of dance artists and sculptors of Paris to exhibit his work at the IV Biennale. Further studies brought him together with Ezio Frigerio. He created sets and costumes for productions like Nureyew’s Swan Lake, Malakhov’s Die Bajadere, Maskenball, Cinderella, La Peri, The Swan Lake, Spoerli’s Coppélia, Les Indes Galantes, Don Quixote among many others …
He’s worked for Directors and Choreographers like Marcia Haydée, Vladimir Malakhov, Rudolf Nureyev, Heinz Spoerli, Manuel Legris, Victor Ullate, Renato Zanella, Terence Kohler, Edward Clug,… etc. and Theatres and Companies like Stuttgarter Ballett, Wiener Staatsoper, Wiener Philarmoniker, New Year’s Concert, Semperoper Dresden, Les Ballets de Monte-Ccarlo, Introdans, Deutsche Oper Berlin, Ballett Zürich, Staatsoper Unter den Linden Berlin, Bayerisches Staatsballett, Staatstheater Karlsruhe, Teatre Nacional de Catalunya, Finnish National Ballet, Hong Kong Ballet, Teatre lliure, Les Grands Ballets Canadiens de Montréal, … etc. For Goyo Montero's première A Midsummer Night's Dream, he designed the costume design for the first time at the Staatstheater Nürnberg.
