Titusz Tóbisz
Titusz Tóbisz (tenor) studied opera singing at the Conservatory in Košice under the guidance of Juraj Šomorjai and graduated from the Jozef Adamovič Conservatory. He works consistently with several vocal coaches.* In 2012, he won the Voice of the Year award for the role of Jean Valjean in Les Misérables at the National Theatre in Miskolc. Since 2014, he has been a soloist with the Opera of the National Theatre Košice. He also collaborates as a guest soloist with various opera houses across Europe.
Among his most notable roles are Otello (G. Verdi: Otello), Tristan (R. Wagner: Tristan und Isolde), Samson (C. Saint-Saëns: Samson and Delilah), Canio (R. Leoncavallo: Pagliacci), Laca Klemeň (L. Janáček: Jenůfa), and Ondrej (E. Suchoň: The Whirlpool).
For his portrayal of Jean Valjean (Les Misérables, Nová Scéna Theatre), he received the Minister of Culture Award in 2019 and the Annual Prize of the Literary Fund in 2020. For the role of Otello, he was awarded the Annual Prize of the Literary Fund and nominated for the prestigious Dosky Award 2019. He also received the Annual Prize of the Literary Fund in 2017 for the role of Arindal in Wagner's The Fairies.
His portrayal of Laca Klemeň in Janáček's Jenůfa earned him the South Bohemian Thalia Award in 2019 and a nomination for the esteemed Czech Thalia Award in 2017. He is the recipient of the Harmónia Award 2018 as Soloist of the Year in classical music. He regularly performs concerts throughout Central Europe.
