Emanuele Sinisi

After graduating from the School of Art Pino Pascali in Bari, he moves to Rome in order to continue his studies. He enrolls at the First School of Architecture “Ludovico Quaroni”, where in 2009 he receives his degree in Set Design-Exhibition Design-Interior Design. While in Rome, he continues to pursue his artistic activities, especially painting, and participates in national competitions of graphics and painting. After an internship at the Scenography Workshops of Foundation Teatro dell’Opera in Rome, he continues his studies in digital arts, interaction design and multimedia, acquiring specific competencies in the field of Information and communication technology.
 
In 2014 he designs “NABUCCO” at the Teatro Ponchielli in Cremona directed by Andrea Cigni. With the sets of “SIMONE BOCCANEGRA” he inaugurates the opera season 2015/2016 at the Teatro Verdi in Pisa. Still in Pisa he is the designer of “IL TRITTICO” (Sancta Susanna by P. Hindemith and Suor Angelica-Gianni Schicchi by G. Puccini) and “IL CAPPELLO DI PAGLIA DI FIRENZE” both directed by Lorenzo Maria Mucci. In 2017 he makes his debut at the Hungarian State Opera with “HÄNSEL UND GRETEL” by E. Humperdinck, directed by Rafael Villalobos and he designs “CHE ORIGINALI!” by S. Mayr e “PIGMALIONE” by G. Donizetti, within the 2017 edition of the Festival Donizetti in Bergamo, directed by Roberto Catalano. He is the curator of the site-specific sets of “ACIS AND GALATEA” by Händel directed by Villalobos in the evocative location of Claustre del Carme for the Festival Castell de Peralada 2018. In 2018 he designs “FALSTAFF” for the Opera Lombardia Theatres, directed by Catalano. In 2019 he makes his debut at Teatro Municipale di Piacenza with “LA FORZA DEL DESTINO” directed by Italo Nunziata. In 2019 he designed the sets for Marc’Antonio Cesti's "LA DORI" for the Innsbrucker Festwochen der Alten Musik, directed by Stefano Vizioli. In 2020 he is semifinalist, with Villalobos, of the prestigious international competition RING AWARD. He designs "IL TROVATORE", directed by Catalano for the 2019-2020 season of the Ente Concerti Marialisa de Carolis of Sassari, and "FALSTAFF" directed by Leonardo Lidi at the Teatro Municipale di Piacenza. He curates the sets of the new Opera Lombardia production “WERTHER”, directed by Stefano Vizioli. With Villalobos he inaugurates the 2020-2021 season of the Opera National de Montpellier with "IL BARBIERE DI SIVIGLIA" by G. Rossini, he designs "COSI 'FAN TUTTE" by Mozart for the Teatro de la Maestranza in Seville, and “MARIE” by G. Alonso, a contemporary opera in co-production with the Teatro Real of Madrid and the Teatro de La Abadia. In 2021 he designs “IL MATRIMONIO SEGRETO" by D. Cimarosa for the Auditorio de Tenerife directed by Roberto Catalano and “TOSCA” directed by Rafael Villalobos, for La Monnaie/De Munt in Brussels, in a co-production with Opera Liceu de Barcelona, Teatro de la Maestranza and Opera de Montpellier. Upcoming productions include “ADRIANA LECOUVREUR” for the Teatro Regio di Parma, in co-production with Teatro Comunale di Modena and Teatro Municipale di Piacenza, “LA TRAVIATA” for the Slovak National Theatre in Bratislava. He currently lives between Genoa and Venice where he teaches Scenic Design at the School of Fine Arts.
