Volker Hintermeier

Volker Hintermeier

He studied costume and stage design at the Mozarteum in Salzburg. From 2000 to 2005 Volker Hintermeier was the chief scenographer at the Schauspielhaus Bochum. From 2005 to 2009 he was the chief scenographer at the Schauspielhaus Zürich. He has worked on more than 300 productions for the Burgtheater Vienna, Theater an der Josefstadt in Vienna, Staatstheater Stuttgart, Schauspiel Leipzig, Kammerspiele Munich, Residenztheater Munich, Deutsches Theater Berlin, Berliner Ensemble, Schauspielhaus Hamburg, Schauspiel Köln, Schauspielhaus Düsseldorf, Volkstheater Vienna, Neumarkt Theater Zurich and Staatstheater Dresden.
 
He has worked with directors such as Anna Bergmann, Armin Petras, Karin Henkel, Matthias Hartmann, Volker Schlöndorff, Jürgen Kruse, Martin Laberenz, Helge Schneider and Michael Schachermaier.
 
He has done opera scenography at the Zürich Opera, Vienna State Opera, Teatro Liceo Barcelona, Teatro Zarzuela Madrid, Mikhailovsky Theatre in St. Petersburg, Grand Opera Geneva, Teatro alla Scala Milano, Teatro Maggio Musicale Florence, Teatro Carlo Felice Genoa. The Cunning Little Vixen is his first work for the Slovak National Theatre in Bratislava.
