The new object of desire for the womaniser Count Almaviva is Susanna, the countess's maid and fiancée of his butler Figaro. Shortly before the wedding, the young couple must therefore use all their ingenuity not only to avoid the erotic advances of their aristocratic employer and secure their marriage, but also to revive the Almavivas' marital relationship. And as if that wasn't enough, young Cherubino, who balances between gender norms and social conventions, also gets involved in the plot.

Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart and his congenial librettist Lorenzo da Ponte created an opera based on Beaumarchais' scandalous comedy that is as thrilling as it is smart, and whose music still fascinates audiences around the world with its bravura and vitality. And it is precisely wisdom, humour and powerful artistic expression that are the keys with which director Jiří Heřman unlocks this immortal opera story.''
