Marián Amsler
Marián Amsler (1979) graduated in theatre dramaturgy and directing at the Academy of Performing Arts in Bratislava. As a director, he specialises in staging contemporary world, but also Czech and Slovak plays (O. Muchinová, V. Sigarev, F. Richtr, D. Gieselmann, P. Nagy, M. Hvorecký, V. Klimáček, E. Maliti-Fraňová, D. Drábek, etc.). He is the co-founder and director of the Letí theatre in Prague. He has guest directed in many Czech and Slovak theatres (SND, Dejvice Theatre in Prague, Drama studio in Ústí nad Labem, National Theatre in Brno - Reduta, Petr Bezruč Theatre in Ostrava, Andrej Bagar Theatre in Nitra, West Bohemian Theatre in Cheb, etc.) For his productions of Chekhov's plays Platonov and Ivanov, he has won the prestigious Slovak award Dosky twice in the category of Discovery of the Year. The production of Platonov won other prizes at the Zlomvaz Festival in Prague, the Setkání Festival in Brno, and the International Festival of Theatre Universities in Warsaw. Since 2008 he has been working as an in-house director and since 2010 as artistic director at HaDivadlo in Brno.
