Jaroslav Moravčík

He started his professional career in SĽUK as a dancer. Later, he held the posts of choreographer, head of dancing, and chairman of the artistic council. He created eight evening-length programmes for SĽUK.
For seven years, he was the head of the ballet company in Mörbisch, Austria. He was also the founder and artistic director of US SLUKA and stood at the birth of the Slovak Chamber Ballet. He receives several prestigious awards for his choreographic and directorial work. He has collaborated with many professional dance and theatre companies, and his choreographies have become a mainstay of major entertainment programmes on Slovak and Czech television and film. He currently works as a freelance performer and leads the dance group Atašé, focusing on producing modern acoustic dance shows.
The characteristic features of Jaroslav Moravčík's choreographies are a distinctive movement vocabulary, humour, an extraordinary sense of rhythm, dynamics and dance expression. He likes to use props and unconventional choreographic techniques.
