Juraj Kuchárek

Juraj Kuchárek (1984) studied scenography under prof. Milan Čorba and doc. Viliam J. Gruska at the Academy of Performing Arts in Bratislava.
After graduation, he made his name mainly as a television architect in the Czech Republic and Slovakia.
He participated in the sets for TV formats such as Czech Slovak SuperStar (2009), Adela Show, Phenomenon, Let's Dance 5, Studio Televsion news, TV Barandov 2011, The Recipe for Wealth, sitcom Peephole, Magical New Year's Eve 2013, Sportsman of the Year, Czech Crossword, The Theme of the Week, Fidlibum studio redesign (2016), Golden Times (2016), Miracle Studio, Something a bit different with Adela, The Greatest Slovak discussion studio (2019), Táraninky (2019), news studios for the World Cup of Hockey (2019), Late Night and many more.
 
He has created the sets for the award ceremonies broadcast on TV: the Tatra Banka Foundation Award for Art (2016) and the CE.ZA.AR Award for Architecture (2015 - 2020), Sun in the Net (2016 - 2017, 2019 - 2020), and the Eset Science Award (2020).
 
As a film architect, he designed the sets for the films directed by Petr Bebjak: Christmas Wish (RTVS, 2018), the TV series Skvrna (2018), the miniseries The Actor (ČT and RTVS, 2020), and the TV film Jozef Mak (RTVS, 2021).
He designed police stations for the series Behind the Glass 3 (JOJ, 2020) and Specialists (Nova, 2020).
He was the architect of the film I Will Tell You, How I Am in the Summer, directed by Marta Ferencova (2021).
 
In theatre, he has created sets in the Slovak National Theatre productions Pagans (2012), Jane Eyre (2014), Fanny and Alexander (2016), War and Peace (2018), and The Square (2019), all directed by Marian Amsler. At the Arena Theatre, it was The Uprising (directed by Sláva Daubnerová, 2014), and Submission (2016), directed by Marian Amsler. At the Klicper Theatre Hradec Králové The School for Women (directed by Marián Amsler, 2015), at the J. K. Tyl Theatre in Pilsen, Love and Intrigue by Friedrich Schiller (directed by Marián Amsler, 2015), Romeo and Juliet at the Prague State Opera (directed by Sláva Daubnerová, 2016), People, Places and Things at the Andrej Bagar Theatre (directed by Marián Amsler, 2018), Our Man at the Astorka Theatre (directed by Ján Luterán, 2018) At the Comedy Theatre in Prague, the musical Lazarus (directed by Marián Amsler, 2019) and the Hussite Trilogy (directed by Lukáš Brutovský, 2020), House at the Andrej Bagar Theatre (directed by Marián Amsler, 2020), Football or the White Angel in Hell (Jan Palárik Theatre in Trnava, 2020) and The Cremator (SKD Martin, 2020), both directed by Ján Luterán.
 
He has been nominated for the DOSKY Awards for the best scenography of the season five times (2012, 2014, 2015, 2016, 2018). In 2018, he received this award for his set design in War and Peace (SND) production.
 
He is also the author of the stages for the award ceremonies: Tatra Banka Foundation Prizes for Art, CE.ZA.AR, The Sun in the Net.
In the theatre, he is the author of the sets for the Slovak National Theatre's productions of Pagans, Anna Jablonská (2012), Jane Eyre, Charlotte Brontë (2014), Fanny and Alexander, Ingmar Bergman (2016) - all directed by Marián Amsler. At the Arena Theatre, it was The Uprising (directed by Sláva Daubnerová, 2014), Submission, Peter Lomnický (based on the novel by Michel Houellebecq) directed by Marián Amsler. At the Klicper Theatre, Hradec Králové The School for Women (directed by Marián Amsler, 2015), at the South Bohemian Theatre České Budějovice Kreutzer Sonata (directed by Lukáš Brutovský, 2015), at the J. Tyl Theatre Plzeň, Love and Intrigue, Friedrich Schiller (directed by Marián Amsler, 2015), at the Prague State Opera, Romeo and Juliet, Charles Gounod (directed by Sláva Daubnerová, 2016).
 
He has been nominated for the DOSKY Awards for the best scenography of the season four times (2012, 2014, 2015, 2016).
