Ján Gallovič

Ján Gallovič was born in Poprad. After graduating from the Theatre Faculty of the Academy of Performing Arts under the guidance of Professor Karol L. Zachar, he became a professional actor. From 1983 to 1985, he was a soloist of the Poetic Ensemble of the New Stage Theatre in Bratislava. From 1985 to 1988, he was a member of the Andrej Bagar Theatre in Nitra. He worked on the New Stage, mainly in musical theatre, from 1988 to 1996. In the same year, he left for the Drama Theatre of the Slovak National Theatre, where he has remained a permanent ensemble member ever since. In addition to the theatre, he also cooperates with Slovak Radio and dubbing studios. He worked at the Theatre Faculty of the Academy of Performing Arts from 1998 to 2016, first as a teacher of artistic recitation in a team with Prof. E. Horváth, then recently as a teacher of speech technique and acting in a team with Prof. I. Timková. In the 1990s, he portrayed many film characters from Slovak productions. Thanks to his charismatic voice, he also found a place in dubbing, for which he was awarded the Golden Loop Award for Best Male Performance in 1997.
