He studied singing at the Bratislava Conservatory in the class of Professor Róbert Szücs and also completed his music-pedagogical education at the Pedagogical Faculty of Comenius University.
He has successfully participated in several singing competitions at home and abroad. In 1999, he won 1st place and the special prize of Andrej Kucharski for being the best participant from the Slovak Republic at the 34th Slovak National Competition. Antonín Dvořák International Singing Competition in Karlovy Vary. In 2001, he won 1st place in the Opera category and was also the absolute winner of the 36th Antonín Dvořák International Singing Competition in Karlovy Vary. In 2002, he was awarded 1st place and the President's Prize of the Association of Japanese Educators, prof. Akahiko Mori at the 17th International Mikuláš Schneider - Trnavský Singing Competition. He improved his performance skills by attending the Master Singing Courses of Eva Randová and Eva Blahová. In the 2003/2004 season, he received a scholarship to study at the Universität für Musik und darstellende Kunst in Graz, where he continued his vocal studies with KS Gottfried Hornik.
In addition to competition activities, he has collaborated several times with the Bratislava Chamber Orchestra Capella Istropolitana. During his simultaneous studies at the Bratislava Conservatory and the Faculty of Pedagogy of Comenius University, he collaborated with the Bratislava Conservatory Chamber Choir, Adoremus, Comenius, Ozvena and the Bratislava City Choir. In 2002, he performed at the opening concert of the IV International Petr Dvorský Music Festival in Jaroměřice nad Rokytnou as a guest of Petr Dvorský together with Lucie Bílá.
On the Slovak National Theatre Opera in Bratislava stage, he portrayed several important singing characters. He has sung as Papageno in Mozart's The Magic Flute, Belcore in Donizetti's The Love Potion, Sharpless in Puccini's Madama Butterfly, Valentin in Gounod's Faust and Germont in Verdi's La Traviata. He also appeared as Falke in Strauss's Die Fledermaus, Lescaut in Puccini's Manon Lescaut, Mercutio in Gounod's Romeo and Juliet, Raffaele in Ermanno Wolf-Ferrari's The Jewels of Madonna, Guglielmo in Così fan tutte, Simon in Verdi's Simon Boccanegra, Tonio in Leoncavallo's Les Comediants, Méphistophélès in Berlioz's Faust's Curse, Michele in Puccini's La Cloche, Marcello in Puccini's La Bohème, Rigoletto in Verdi's Rigoletto, Rodrigo in Don Carlo, Amonastro in Aida, and Scarpia in Puccini's Tosca.
He has performed in Austria, Germany, Poland, Hungary, Italy, Ireland, the USA and Canada. He is a regular guest at the Janáček Theatre in Brno, the National Theatre and the State Opera in Prague, where he has appeared as Germont in Verdi's La Traviata, Rigoletto in Verdi's Rigoletto, Scarpia in Puccini's Tosca, Marbuel in Dvořák's The Devil and Kate, Tonio in Leoncavallo's The Comedians and Alfio in Mascagni's Cavalleria rusticana. As Papageno, he toured Japan in 2013 with the Prague National Theatre in The Magic Flute. In early 2015, he made his debut in Puccini's La Bohème at Oper Leipzig and in 2019, he was Enrico in Donizetti's Lucia di Lammermoor at Theater Regensburg in Germany. In 2021, he collaborated at the Salzburg Festival in Puccini's Tosca, directed by Michael Sturminger.
As Méphistophélès in Berlioz's Faust's Curse, he has not only performed in Bratislava and Prague but also collaborated in the production at the Teatro dell' Opera di Roma, conducted by Daniele Gatti and directed by Damiano Michieletto.
Daniel Čapkovič's current repertoire on the stage of the Slovak National Theatre Opera includes Escamillo in Bizet's Carmen, in Verdi's operas, he appears as Nabucco, Rigoletto, Germont in La Traviata, Rodrigo in Don Carlo and Amonasro in Aida. He also played the role of Scarpia in Puccini's Tosca, Mojmir in Suchoň's Svätopluk, Marbuil in Dvořák's opera The Devil and Kate, Tomáš in Smetana's The Kiss and Forester in Janáček's The Cunning Little Vixen in The Cunning Little Vixen.
